A big brother indeed....

On September 16th, at 10:24 pm, we welcomed our beautiful daughter, Selah Joy. She was a petite 5 lbs 8 ounces, and 17.5 inches, but very healthy and strong. Everything went well with the adoption papers, and we are now home with TWO children!! It's amazing!

Success!!

The past few nights, Isaac has slept his usual 12-14 hours in his new bed and new room!! I'm so proud of him. The process has been almost completely painless. He took right to sleeping at night in the new bed, but the naps have been a little trickier. The fact that he has the freedom to get out of bed and run around, or open and close his closet door, or bang on the wall instead of going to sleep has been somewhat of an obstacle. I found him a few times curled up with his blankie on the floor next to his bed. I of course picked him up and put him in his bed and told him, "This is your night-night bed. Go to sleep, sweetie. I love you."

BUT, today, right now even, he went right to sleep ON HIS BED when I put him down for his nap. SUCCESS. It feels good.

..............I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow (and the next day, and the next) before I celebrate too much. :)

Trying it out

Well, as I type this, Isaac is taking a "nap" in his new room. So far there is no actual sleeping going on, but at least he is not crying. We decided to go ahead and test out a "toddler bed" to see if Isaac is ready for that. His bed consists of a twin size mattress on the floor with a Secure Lock Bed Rail attached to it. It's actually a nice little set up.

I have intentionally been making a big exciting deal out of the new room thing for Isaac. Ever since we started working on it, I have been telling him that this is Isaac's new room, and showing him everything about it. This morning I showed him his new bed, and told him this was Isaac's new night-night bed. We want Isaac to feel like moving to a "big boy room" is a good thing, and not that the new baby is kicking him out of his room and crib.

When I have peeked in to check on Isaac, he has either been sitting on the bed holding his blankie, or standing in the closet (he knows how to open that door, but can't reach anything inside).

So we'll see how this goes, and maybe try letting him sleep on the new bed again tonight. If he's just not ready to stay in bed, then we will move to plan B, which is to have him sleep in his beloved pack 'n play until he's ready for the bed. All this is in an effort to make our baby room available for baby sis, who will be born very soon. (!!!!!!!!!!)

So far so good.

Project: Big Boy Room

I've been sanding, priming, painting, scraping, pulling out carpet, having new carpet installed, and this is what we've got so far. Sorry video is a little dark.

We still need to put in new outlet and switch covers and a new light fixture on the ceiling.

Lunchtime with Isaac

Yes, he ate every last kernel of corn! He was also having grilled steak with onions and green peppers and broccoli.
